Einzelstücke silk und Tussahseide
wird ausschliesslich vom freilebenden Tussahspinner gewonnen. Herkunftsland dieser Tiere ist Fernost. Ein anderer Name ist Eichenspinner, denn sie ernähren sich von Eichenlaub. Da die Kokons stark verfilzen, auch verbasten genannt, können sie nicht in einem Faden abgewickelt werden, wie z.B. bei real oder Schappeseide. Sie werden in kurzen Faserstücken zu einem sehr haltbaren, seidig glänzenden Faden versponnen. Das Garn ist von naturaus ungleichmäßig dick und ergibt so einen interessanten Effekt. Handwäsche empfohlen.
