A professional weaver can never have enough shuttles! Here you can see a selection of my shuttles. I have tried different forms, but these are my favorite.
From the basic form they are similar, but they differ in small details. This kind of shuttle is good for me because I have very slim hands and they lie comfortably in my hands. Some of the vents are small others are wider, appropriate to the yarn I use.
Some are better suited for silk because they are pretty wide, the next one I might prefer for to weave linen trims but it's not so good for working with wool. You have to find out yourself what you like best
Stefan has made all the shuttles by hand with a lot of diligence and sawdust in many after hours.
They are made of finnish birch and practically unbreakable, as this model plywood is glued crosswise in many layers of 0.5 mm thin wood.
I like the grain on the shuttles, every one is different.Below I provide you the 1:1 - to scale plans of my best weaving shuttles for downloading and free use: |
